October 18. 1993/308 A regular meeting of the Municipal Council of the Corporation of the City of Port Coquitlam was held in the Council Chambers, Port Coquitlam City Hall, 2580 Shaughnessy Street, Port Coquitlam, BC on Monday, October 18th, 1993, at 7:30 p.m. Mayor L.M. Traboulay and Councillors, M.D. Gates, M.J. Gordon, J.J. Keryluk, R.H. Talbot, M.A. Thompson, and M.R. Wright were in attendance. Also in attendance were Administrator B.R. Kirk, City Clerk S. Rauh, City Treasurer/Deputy Administrator J.G.S. Maitland, City Engineer I.R. Zahynacz, Director of Community Planning C.R. Felip, Director of Parks and Recreation K. J. Taylor, Fire Chief J.L. Baillie, and Deputy Fire Chief G. Routley. That the minutes of the Public Hearing and Regular Council Meeting held on October 4th, 1993 be taken as read and adopted. Carried. PROCLAMATIONS: Whereas the purposes and objectives of the Royal Canadian Legion, as contained in an Act to incorporate the Royal Canadian Legion include: (e) To perpetuate the memory and deeds of the fallen and of those who die in the future; (f) To promote and care for memorials to their valour and sacrifice ... to keep an annual memorial day, to preserve the records and memories of their service and to see that such services shall not be forgotten by the nation; To educate public opinion regarding national duties to the dead; To foster loyalty among the public and education in the principles of patriotism, duty and unstinted public service; Whereas every person who has been initiated into membership in the Royal Canadian Legion, has sworn to uphold and advance the aims and objectives of the Legion; And whereas the National Poppy Conimittee has recommended that the observance of a "Remembrance Week" immediately prior to November 11th would do a great deal to encourage greater interest cn the part of the public, Now therefore I, Leonard M. Traboulay, Mayor of the Corporation of The City of Port Coquitlam, DO HEREBY PROCLAIM the seven days commencing November 4th and ending November 1 1th as “REMEMBRANCE WEEK" in the City of Port Coquitlam.
