Eng., Deputy City Engineer Ast Knapp Christmss Tree Recycling Program - City Contribution (Environmental Protection Commitice Mecting of Deceaaber 2, 1992) That Council allocate $400 to support the 1993 Christrnas Tree Chipping Program at Ast Knapp Plantland in Port Coquitlam That Council allocate $400 from the 1992 Environmental Protection Budget for this The Environmental Protection Committee considered the attached memorandum from the Project Technician dated November 17, 1992 regarding the request for funding for the Art Knapp Christmas Tree chipping program. This is the second annual Christmas Tree chipping event held be the Art Knapp’s. Port Coquitlam residents can drop of Christrnas Tree at Art Knapp’s for no charge. The trees are chipped and used for mulch at the garden centre. The annual event is beneficial to the City because of the amount of Solid waste in the form of Christmas Trees, which is diverted from the landfill. The Christmas trees would normally be disposed of at the landfill by the City at a cost of $69 per tonne. The $400 request is minimal as it would cost in excess of $3000 for the City to hold its own Christmas Tree Chipping event.
