THE CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF PORT COQUITLAM 987 MEMORANDUM TQ: City Administrator October 14, 1987 FROM; City Engineer SUBJECT: Parking in 3300 Block Coast Meridian Road ~ Public Works Committee October 6, 1987 Racommendatian: That a wooden bumper curb be installed in front of 3310 Coast Meridian Road with the astimated cost of $400 being taken out of the unallocated funds in the Public Works Capital Budgat; and that the Traffic Bylaw be amended to allow angle parking In front of 3384 and 3410 Coast Meridian Road. Background and Comments: There is a wide shoulder on the east side of Coast Meridian Road north of Salisbury Avenue which is designated for angle parking In front of 3310 and has no parking control over the remainder of the street. Cars angle parking in front of 3310 have bean overhanging the sidewalk creating a problem for pedestrians. Because the shoulder is gravel, there is no opportunity to install @ proper curb. However, it is possible to install a wooden bumper curb using six by six timbers anchored to the shoulder by rods driven through the timbers Into the ground. To do the entire frontage of the wide shoulder would cost approximately $1,600. However, to do the portion which is currently designated for angle parking would cost only $400. Since funds in The Unallocated Public Works Budget are limited, the recommendation is only to do The portion where there is currently a problem. - tro OR, The Committee also feels that the remainder of the wide shoulder should be dasignated for angle parking in order to organize the parking which is now taking place with a mix of both paraltol and angie parking. rw we j ci FLE.
