THE CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF PORT COQUITLAM MEMORANDUM MAY 5 to8q TO: Mayor and Council May list, 1980 FROM: Public Works Committee Report from the Public Works Committee Meeting held Tuesday, April 29th, 1980. IN ATTENDANCE: Alderman E.W. Mabbett Alderman L.M. Traboulay F.E. Peters, P. Eng., City Engineer ITEM I Re: Extension of Truck Route on Pitt River Road The attached sketch shows the location of truck routes in the City. You will notice that the truck route on McLean Avenue has no place to go. This is leading to problems as the police attempt to enforce our truck route by-law. Vehicles from the east are lead to believe that they can proceed west along McLean Avenue. However, when they get to the intersection of McLean Avenue and Pitt River Road the truck route comes to an abrupt end. This leaves them with no place to go except in violation of our by~law. Similarly, vehicles proceeding south on Mary HillRoad and expecting to turn onto Pitt River Road to proceed to the industries located along McLean Avenue, find when they reach Pitt River Road that they are not allowed to turn. The Committee recommends that the truck route along McLean be extended as far as Mary Hill Road with appropriate signs erected to ensure that this truck traffic does not turn off on Tyner. ITEM II Re: Left-turn Signal at Coast Meridian and Lougheed Highway Council had requested the Committee to consider whether we should ask the Department of Highways to install a separate left-turn signal for the intersection of Coast Meridian Road and Lougheed Highway. Several area residents had suggested that there was some difficulty in making a left turn and that the accident rate was very high. [2naen
