From the Planning & Zoning Committee, January 8th, 1974, advising that Application R#27/74 to rezone a 25,000 square toot site at the corner of Sefton Street and Salisbury Avenue, legally described as the Ws of Rem. of Lot K, D.L. 479, Group 1, Plan 6825, from RM-1 (Low-Density Apartment Residential) to P-1 (Civic Institutional) to permit the development of a Postal Letter Carriers' Depot is, in the opinion of the Committee, compatible with tha existing Commercial use in the area and is within the bounds designated by the Phased Development Plan for Commercial use, and recommending that the subject rezoning be approved in principle subject to design and engineering details to be worked out to standards acceptable to the Planning and Engineering Departments. A representative was in attendance on behalf of the Federal Government, and he explained that the present Federal Post Office building on McAllister is overcrowded; therefore, it is proposed to establish a second facility on Coast Meridian Road North of Prairie Avenue in order to provide the best possible service to Port Coquitlam now and in the future. The City Engineer stated that the Federal Department of Public Works had been advised that the paving of Salisbury from Coast Meridian Road to Sefton Street would be a requirement of the City in approving the project, and Ald2rman Traboulay suggested that the Department should be required to pave Sefton Street also.
