Peter Albert
SMITH
July 8, 1929 - - April 4, 2006.

itis with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing
of our beloved Father and Grandfather, Peter Albert Smith, in.
Terrace, on April 4, 2006. .

Pete was from Mill Bay, Vancouver Idond, and.was on a fish-

- ing holiday to visit his sons. He is survived by is three loving

‘children; Deborah from Vancouver, Patrick and his wife Sharon

Combs from Lake Cowichan and Terrace, and Eugene from

Terrace. He is also survived by his grandson, Damian, his sister

Maureen, brothers, Brian, Kevin, Shaun and Tony, numerous

nephews ‘ond nieces, and his ex-wife Margaret Rowley. Heispre- ft.

: deceased by his Mother ond Father, Albert ond Constance, and |

his brother Patrick (Paddy).

*- Pete was born in London ond survived the bombing of the city

' during the Second world War. He ‘went to work os a-plumber

apprentice at the age of fourteen. At the age of eighteen he did;

his service with the British Army and was stationed in Egypt and —

Palestine. Pete wanted o better life for his young family and -

‘immigrated to.Canada.ond arrived in Vancouver in 1956. He

worked for MacConachey for 18 years, working his way up to

© plumbing. superintendent on several hospital construction. proj-

ects through out the province. mE

Pete's great passions were his family and fishing, and wherever
-work took the family, he would seek out the great fishing spots’ {}
--and share his love of fishing with his children. Pete had the great
"wisdom to escape the rat race of the city and moved his family _
to Mill Bay on Vancouver Island in 1974, where he bought a
” beautiful piece of property with a trout stream and old cedar qi

trees on it. He semi-retired at the age of forty- five, ond was ~
always working on his mony projects. Pete saw Canada as the ia
-greatest place on earth and was first and foremost a proud =~ F
Canadian. He was a gentleman of old world wisdom, full of
interesting tales, and will be greatly missed by his family,
friends and all acquaintances he made throughout his life. |
He was teken too soon from us; he still had so much to jf
teach all of us. Every time we hear “fish on”, we will be ”
thinking of our beloved fother.and friend.

* . The family wishes to thank the emergency room .
staff at Mills Memoria Hospital, the ambulance —
attendants, members of the fire department who .

responded, MacKay Funeral home ond all our “ie
friends in Terrace and Kitimat who supported us
throughout this tragedy.

Pete had been coming every year to Terrace for
the last seven years to visit and fish, and he loved
this area. He will never be forgotten.

Acelebration of his life will be held in the fall, when all
the family will meet again at Pete's place, Mill Bay, BC.
