His’ parents, George and ‘Margaret’ Bahr, worked for a ‘firm selling locomotives. * Gertrude Schirrmeister was -born on Jan. 5, 1907. She had one brother and her parents were Pau! and Minna Schirrmeister. “John “and Gertrude were ‘married on Jan, 20, 1934 in -Berlin.at’ Gertrude’s pareins home with a supper and a ‘party later held there. * They made their home in ‘Stettin, which is now part of ‘Poland. ~ John was a horticulturalist and worked as a gardener at the airport at Stettin. They also raised over 1,500 chickens and sold eggs. They supplied Kitimat with fresh vegetables until the 1970s, when they staricd just selling them from the Terrace location. They continued until this year selling produce at the farmer’s markel. Many still come from Kitimat, Prince Rupert and sur- rounding areas to buy their pro- duce. JOHN AND GERTRUDE BAHR celebrated 60 years together and nearly 40 years in the Terrace area. In 1956 two more families maved to make their homes there — Henry and Annette Rauser and family, and Daniel and Elsie Westeroth and their children. Gradually the road was im- proved, In the late 1960s they finally got electricity and some iclephones. The families arc all Remo old- timers, having arrived in 1955 to find nothing but bush and mud. They worked long hard hours to develop their properties. The Bahr children are: * Jergen and wife Siegred, living in Terrace. They have five children, three still in Terrace. * Dieter and family — three chiléten. * Daughter Annelicsc Raus- chenberger, with five children, two in Terrace. John and Gertrude now have 13 grandchildren and 17 great- grandchildren. Many more years of pood health and happiness!
