THE CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF PORT COQUITLAM MAY - 4 1992 TO: E.R. Kirk April 30, 1992 City Administrator FROM: LR. Zahynacz, P. Eng. City Engineer SUBJECT: FLOO! Ri That Council approve the expenditure of $11,000 for dredging of the Cedaa Ditch between the Cedar Storm Pump Station and the culverts at Victoria Drive. That $11,000 be allocated from the Future Capital Works Reserve for this purpose. The Public Works Committee considered the attached memorandum dated April 27, 1992 regarding a request for Mr. Barnes of 917 Richmond Place to correct the flooding being experienced at the location. For the past several years there have been flooding problems with the storm sewer backing up through the catch basin in the cul-de-sac at Richmond Place. The Richmond Place cul-de-sac is the lowest point in the Cedar Pump Station catchment area. | Dayton & Knight engineering consultants have suggested the following options: 1) Dredge Cedar Ditch - $11,000 2) Install a small pump station at the cul-de-sac - $50,000 3) Upgrade Cedar Ditch Pump Station - $875,000 4) Enclose a portion of Hyde Creek - $750,000 It is recommended that the Cedar Ditch be excavated to the original cross section shown in the engineering construction drawings in order to increase the hydraulic capacity of the Cedar Ditch and there by help alleviate the drainage probsern at Richmond Place. ot Z LR.
