(Lea Cer Yo NEWS RELEASE: Mayor George Laking of the City of Port Coquitlam today announced the resignation of the City's Administrator Mr. George Sawada. In submitting the resignation Mr. Sawada spoke of his faniily' 5 reluctance to move to the Lover Mainland in view of the current high mortgage rates and the area's relatively high cost of housing. Mayor Laking expressed regret at Mr. Sawada's resignation stating that the Administrator had _excently submitted to Council a “comprehensive report detail- ing a number of recommendations for improved administrative performance. The Administrator's report was discussed in detail during a Committee of Council meeting held August 31st, 1981 at which time a vast majority of the reports recommendations were approved. Mayor Laking indicated that che Administrator's recommendations would result in Significant improvement in Council and Administrative operations and that Council was looking forward to their early implementation. Pending the appointment of a new Administrator Mr. Gordon Newhouse, Managing Director of G.H. Newhouse and.
