Re: Amendments to Sign By-Law

Council asked for some information on the numbers of Properties affected by the
proposed changes in the Sign By-law. ‘The properties affected have been marked
on the attached map and there appear to be about 14 in total that might be
affected. Council will recognize that some of these are already occupied by
existing buildings therefore they would not be eligible for additional signs
unless expansion took place and another business was located on the site. The
new regulations would only permit two signs where there are two businesses on

the same lot.

The properties have been numbered on the attached map and Council will recognize -
‘#1 as Beaver Lumber property and is not likely ‘to be built on for a second use
ag it is part of their parking lot.

#2 is part of the RS-1 zoned pzoperty owned by the G.V.R.D.

#3 is the Veterinary Clinic and similarly it is not likely that this will
divide into two businesses.

#4 is residentially zoned and is therefore not likely to apply for a sign.
#5 is the Gulf Service Station which again is a single business.

#6 is the Chinese Restaurant and there are a number of busines.-es in this
establishment, therefore they may want two signs. ‘

#7 is the building with Brownies Chicken and the Casa Roma - this similarly
might want two signs.

_#8 is the Continental Inn which is presently just a single business.

#9 is a smali parcel owned by the Department of Highways and is presently zoned A-1.
#10.is the abandoned Texaco Station on the Lougheed.

#11 is the Chevron Station.

#12 is the site under review.

#13 is the abandoned Imperial Station.

#14 1s McLeod’s Restaurant.

It would appear that properties numbered 1, 2, 4 and 9 would not likely come under
the By-law because of their present zoning or use, however, the remaining ten
parcels could, at some time, take advantage of the previsions of the By~law
provided that two uses are created.on the lot, and the signs are able to be kept

100' apart.
