Francois Lake Wood-
working has gone
through various changes
since a small beginning
in 1983. It is now a major
solid. wood flooring
manufacturing plant’ in
Northen B.C. with it's
own line of
FRANWOOD products.

The focus is on pro-
ducing high quality solid
wood products at afford-
able — prices, Francois
Lake Woodworking pro-
duces flooring, paneling
and mouldings from local
species. Birch is — pur-
chased from the Hazel-
tons, Prince. George or
Quesnel area and the
pine.and aspen materials
are supplied from within
the Lakes District.

FRANWOOD flooring
is made from birch and
pine and is available in
two grades, clear or rus-
tic. All flooring is end
matched and available in
either strip (2 1/2") or
plank (3 1/2") sizes.
Solid wood paneling is

available in birch or as-
pen. The paneling is also
end matched and avail-
able in various grades.
Mouldings are available
in all three species of
wood to match.

Modern equipment is
used to ensure quality;
precision cutting and
tight tolerances on all
products. The focus is on
getting the most out of
each log and producing a
high quality end product.

The plant uses state of
the art equipment such as
a bandmill with a laser
beam to keep the band
saw accuracy to within
one-64th of an inch,
Jumping heads on the
double end profiler cut
with the flow, which
eliminates any tom out
grain. There is also a en-
ergy system which heats
the dry kilns and utilizes
wood waste. This has the
capacity to provide heat
for 22 single unit homes!
The next addition in

modern equipment will
be a briquette press unit
which can utilize any ex-
cess sawdust by pressing
it into logs which are ex-
pected to burn hotter and
longer than regular fire

wood. These will be
ulilized in the heating
system.

Sales. and marketing
efforts are increasing in
the U.S. through the
Distribution Centre

which is located in Bel-
lingham, WA and is ac-
tively promoting
FRANWOOD products
in the US market. Local
sales for Northern BC are
conducted through the

Francois Lake office at
the mill site on Highway
358. We have a show-
room to display the vari-
ous products, office
hours are 8 a.m. to Sp.m.
