made by hand THE PLEASURES OF MAKING call for entries The Crafts Association of British Columbia invites all B.C. crafts people to have their work considered for the 1993 MADE BY HAND exhibition, which will take place at the Canadian Craft Museum. The emphasis of the exhibit, as the title suggests, is to demonstrate and explore that most human of drives which is to create objects. In this exhibit we wish to explore this innate need to engage in a physical and sensory experience to produce works that define our humanity and place. The ‘process of making’ will be shown, for example, by displaying unfinished objects along with finished ones, and by presenting the artists’ words and/or sources of inspiration in pictures or objects. It is anticipated that the show will travel across Canada for 1-2 years following the CCM exhibition. ELIGIBILITY Vv Participants must be residents of B.C. v Work for the exhibition will be chosen both by jury and invitation v Any orginal work made within the last 2 years, incorporating metal, clay, paper, textiles, or glass, that has not previously been exhibited at the CCM v Artists selected will be asked to show their creative process by submitting for exhibition along with a completed object, (for example) sketches, prototypes, written material and/or other sources of inspiration “JURORS Doris Shadbolt Curator/Historian Vv Lloyd Herman Acting Curator of the CCM v Brian Baxter Glass Artist v ENTRY PROCEDURE 1.
