SUBJECT: Special Occasion Licenses —- Ball Tournaments
(April 25, 1990 Parks & Recreation Committee Meeting)

Recommendation:

It is recommended that the following Special Occasion license
requests to hold “beer gardens" during ball tournaments be approved,
conditional upon each request being granted R.C.M.P. clearance.

Background & Proposal:

Each year the Parks & Recreation department receive requests from
various softball leagues and the Port Coquitlam Firefighters to hold
“beer gardens” in conjunction with their tournaments.

The purpose of the "beer garden" is to raise funds for the league in
order that the teams can buy uniforms, equipment, pay umpire
expenses, travel expenses or provide funds for a charitable
organization.
