months. Our first three and a half months were spent in a
hill station just east of Bombay. And we had the opportunity
to live through the crazy monsoon season. It was quite an
experience with mold growing on our walls and even our
clothes. With Jamie completing his training there, we telo-
' cated to the south in the city of Bangalore.
Jamie is busy volunteering in primary health care in the:
‘slums. It’s both challenging and rewarding at the same time,
but he really enjoys it. Carol is homeschooling ‘the kids as
well as working as a volunteer in teaching English a few af-
ternoons a week. The kids have adjusted very well'to their
new surroundings, but as we get closer to Christmas, they do
mniss the snow and especially Shames Mountain. |
Bangalore is a city of 6 million people, and life here can
be quite a challenge at times. It’s very different than our life
in Terrace. But as we draw closer to Christmas, the things
we love and appreciate remain the same...family, friends and
"especially the birth of the little baby who makes life worth
living. Our family wishes you all a very “Merry Christmas
and hopes you can find time this season to really appreciate
all that you have. If you want to read more detals about our
adventures, check. out our web site at www.lairds.ca — and
