HOW MANY of us can say Friends from the start we've been friends since birth? | Six lucky Terrace children can make that claim. The five boys and one girl were first introduced in May. 1987. Their mothers all at- tended a six week ‘‘Mothers and Babies’’ ‘program: of- . fered by the Skeena Health Unit. Many of the mothers were new to Terrace and were delighted to have the op- portunity to meet other ‘moms with new babies. The mothers met once a week to talk about every- thing from: breast feeding and immunization to sleep patterns and siblings. After the course finished, the mothers weren’t ready to give up. their new friend- ships, or the supportive bond they felt for ane anoth- er and their children. So the group started mcet- ing on their own once a week at each others homes. The babies were healthy and growing rapidly. As the children grew it be- came harder to contain six two-year-olds in one house. So meetings moved to the park where the toddlers could run and play. Five still live in Terrace, and they're still good friends.
