YBE you were one of the thousands in Vancouver who had a foretaste of Liberal “prosperity”
when you were laid off last winter. You'll remember too, that the government had no answer to
demands that unemployment benefits be increased.

What assurance have you now that your job will last the year? Liberals and Conservatives make fine
promises, but they don't stack up to the facts of falling export markets and increasing shutdowns and lay-
offs, as at Woodfibre and Port Alice. And jobs created by military expenditures only help to send the
cost of living higher, for the money comes out of your pockets to be poured into armaments at the expense
of housing, health insurance and other social security measures.

“Jt could be different—a lot different. Canadian industries could be working full shifts filling orders
for China, the New Democracies of Europe, the Soviet Union. British Columbia's markets in Britain
could be secured, assuring you of your job. ;

But who's going to fight for these policies? The Liberals who reject them? The Tories who, under
R. B. Bennett, were going to blast their way into world markets and who instead forced thousands of

‘The LPP candidates will fight for your right.to work, for the policies that will create jobs, for
the nghts of labor, as they fought for these things in the Hungry Thirties. You can vote for them on
their records.
