Local scouts seek | to trace history Contributed by Erlc Harkonen The Terrace Scout District has undertaken the task of putting- together a history of Scouting in Terrace, Information has been received from the First Terrace which was formed.in 1927, the Second Saint Joseph .and the Fifth A and B, which were form- ed in the early 50s and the latter in 1970... Even though some. informa- tion has been received, it is not enough. There are still large gaps to fill in, and the Terrace - Scout District would like to re- quest anyone involved in the Scouting movement in Terrace’s past to contact Scout public rela- tions at 638-0652. The council would also like to ask for dona- tions of any old Scout or Wolf Cub uniforms of earlier design for display purposes, a“ -Anyone who is willing to donate .these items, would, if they wished, have their name credited with the uniform while it is on display. The- number above can be used asa contact for these donations. - Legion branches out in community work by Roy Greening The gala New Look night, which took place on Saturday, Nov. 5, was a huge success, In - fact, many people had to be turned away because there was no more room. On each table was a sheet of paper entitled ‘‘Did You Know?”’ that in the past 10 years Terrace,. Branch #13, Royal Canadian Legion, working hand in hand with an effective and vibrant Ladies’ Auxiliary, has donated $100,000 to various: charities, community events, youth organizations and senior citizen activities. This does not include the $25,000 to Mills Memorial Hospital for heart testing equipment and whirlpool bath. This does not include the ‘free rental of our hall. Forty other groups are listed as having received donations from Legion Branch #13. _ - On the New Look night the branch’s generosity to charities was repaid in part by individuals . and organizations donating prizes for spot dances and door EVA DANIELS CARES. -Is concerned about the well-being of students and teachers. -will work towards adequate funding. -Can communicate with all people. -Will use past experience and common sense in decision-making.
