THE CORPORATION OF THE : < CITY OF PORT COQUITLAM AUG 1 3 1999 TO: B.R. Kirk DATE: August 9, 1990 City Administrator FROM: D.G. Riecken Deputy City Engineer SUBJECT: Award of Contract For Pitt River Road Pump Station Upgrading (Public Works Committee August 7, 1990) RECOMMENDATION s That Council approve the award by Beaconcare Developers of the Contract for the upgrading of the Pitt River Road pumping station to Mons Contractors Ltd at their tendered price of $64,145 subject to the Developer providing written assurance that the upgrading of the downstream sewers will be completed prior to the new pumps becoming operational. BACKGROUND AND COMMENTS: The Agreement executed between Beaconcare (Whitney Development Ltd.) and the City with respect to cost sharing of offsite works for the Government Housing Project cn Lobb Avenue requires that the City approve the award of any contracts for cost shareable works. Staff is satisfied that Mons Contractors are the lowest bidder and that they are capable of performing the work. The Committee was concerned, however, with the slow progress on design of offsite sanitary sewer improvements by Civic Consultants Ltd. and therefore recommends that the award of the contract be approved subject to the installation of the downstream works being complete before the new pumps are put into operation.
