IN KOREA

This week, while America was electing a military
brasshat, General Dwight E. Eisenhower, as its next

president, thousands of conferences in all countries of

the world—including the United States—were elect-
ing delegates to attend the greatest peace gathering in

history, the Congress of the Peoples for Peace, which

will convene in Vienna on December 12.

While the U.S. is-stepping up its bloody war
against the Korean people—the latest disastrous of-
fensive launched by General Van Fleet has resulted
in soaring casualty figures—global discussions in-
volving millions of people in all continents are seek-
ing a way to end the Korean war and establish a
stable world peace.

In Canada several representatives have already
been named to carry the peace views of different sec-
tions of opinion to Vienna, according to the Canadian
Peace Congress newsletter Peace Review. Those

nominated include the following:

Mrs. Edith Holtom: well known champion of
pacifist principles in Ottawa.

Gilbert McWhirter: locomotive engineer, Lon-
