With its guiding theme, “Parents: A a Movement, A Force,” the FPFCB annu- al conference (and AGM) took place November 18-19, 2005 in Richmond. More than a hundred parents, partners in education and early learning, and government representatives met fo hold discussions, learn and re-energize. Note that two provincial ministers were in at- tendance, the Minister of State for Child Care and Early Learning, the Honourable Linda Reid, and the Minister of State for Intergovernmental Relations, the Honourable John van Dongen. Parents even had an opportunity for a per- sonal chat with fhe Minister of Education, the Honourable Shirley Bond. Representatives of our key financial partners (Andrea Sebastian of Heritage Canada and Nicole Couture of the BC Ministry of Education) also honoured us with their presence. It’s a clear sign of how credible the parents’ movement is—a frue force in the community! After several years of training included as part of the annual par- ents’ conference, the FPFCB is now passing the torch to College Educacentre. This means that henceforth francophone educators will receive professional training through Educacentre. It goes without saying that this organization has acquired certain expertise in the field during the past few months with the preparation of an early learning education certificate that will be available in 2006.
