SUBJECT: Heritage Trust ~
Student Employment Programme Application.

RECOMMENDATION:

That City Council authorise the Planning Deparrment to submit a grant
application to the Heritage Trust for hiring a summer student.

COMMENTS :

This application is to hire a university student for the summer under the
same programme as was used last year. As Council member's will recall, a
U.B.C. Architecture Student, Mr. Eric- Pattison, was hired to conduct an
inventory of heritage buildings in Port Coquitlam.

The proposal is to hire a student *o conduct a public information programme -
preparing display panels, tourist naps of heritage buildings and a guide

for people wanting to make renovations toe potential heritage buildings.
Qualifications of the student to be hired will be similar to last year,
emphasising architectural knowledge and communication skills.

Financing of the project will be to use the grant monies for salary of the
student and for the City to supply office space, administrative support and
supplies. Based on last years experience, the out of pocket costs to the

City will be in the range of $500.00.
