4 December 21st, 1981. A regular meeting of the Municipal Council of The Corporation of the City of Port Coquitlam was held in the Council Chambers, Port Coquitlam City Hall, 2272 McAllister Avenue, Port Coquitlam, B.C. on December 2lst, 1981 at 7:30 p.m. His Worship Mayor LL.M. Traboulay, Aldermen M.D. Gates, G.R. Laking, A.K. Muldoon, D.J. Vater and M.R. Wright in attendance. Also in attendance were Chief Administrative Officer B. Kirk, City Clerk R.A. Freeman, Assistant City Engineer T. Chong, City Treasurer J.G.S. Maitland, Direcror of Planning W. Brown, Fire Chief W.S. Wingrove and Recording Secretary D. Vyse. CONFIRMATION OF MINUTES: Minutes: Moved by Alderman Muldoon: Dec. 14/81 Seconded by Alderman Laking: That the minutes of the regular meeting of this Council held on December 14th, 1981 be taken as read and adopted. Carried. BYLAWS: Moved by Alderman Laking: B/L #1848 - Zoning Amend. Shaughnessy & Pitt River Rd. -Third Rdg. Seconded by Alderman Wright: That Bylaw No. 1848 be read a third time. Carried. Alderman Gizes voted against the resolution. Prior to the question being called on the foregoing resolution Alderman Laking stated in his opinion the proposed development is the best use for that property and referred to the parking and traffic problem but stated twenty-five additional units would not make a great deal of difference and advised he would be supporting the bviaw; Alderman Wright referred to the concerns of residents regarding parking and stated in his opinion the proposed development lends itself to parking on site and if there are problems in the future parking restrictions could be imposed. Alderman Wright then referred to the upgrading of the area which would be part of the requirements, e.g. a sidewalk which would benefit the school children. Alderman Gates stated he is opposed to the development at this time as he Feels when the Mary Hill Bypass is complete this property may be needed for a different type of use; Alderman Vater advised he is in favour of the proposed development and Alderman Muldoon Stated that in her opinion that although she valued the opinion of opposition expressed by the surrounding residents, nevertheless this is
