BYLAW NO. 1919

A Bylaw to provide for the esta-
blishment of ea Board of Variance.

The Municipal. Council of The Corporation of the City of Port Coquitlam
in open meeting assembled, enacts as follows:

l. A 30ard of Variance consisting of five members to be known as the "City
of Port Coquitlam Board of Variance" is hereby established.

The procedure for appeal to the Board of Variance shall be as follows:
(a) The person appealing shall complete the "Notice of Appeal" set

forth in Schedule "A" which said Schedule is attached to and made a part
of this Bylaw.

(b) A person appealing shall deliver or cause to be delivered. within
seven days following the day of the decision or order being appealed
one copy of the Notice of Appeal and one copy of sketch plans and

elevations or plans and specifications if such have been prepared, to

the Secretary of the Board of Variance.

(c) The Secretary of the Board of Variance, upon receiving a document
purporting to be a Notice of Appeal shall, within seven days of the

receipt of such document: ,

mark on the first page of the document delivered the date on

which it was delivered;
in consultation with the Chairman of the Board, set a date for
the hearing of the Appeal;

give seven clear days notice of the date and time fixed for the
Hearing to the members of the Board of Variance, the appellant,
and such other persons as are required to be notified.

The Board in conducting the hearing of the appeal:
(a) May hear oral evidence, which need not be given on oath.

(b) Shall allow the person appealing to attend the whole hearing of
the Appeal.

(ec). Shall permit those persons present at the Hearing a reasonable
opportunity to express their views with respect to the subject matter

of the Appeal.

(d) Shall receive from the Secretary of the Board of Variance any
correspondence relating to the Appeal.

(e) . May inspect the lot or structure in respect of which the appeal has
been made.
