The answer is hope. -Fhis event has been close to the hearts of snowmobilers all across “Canada, The Snowarama con- cept was conceived in On- tario in 1974 as a winter recreational event that would benefit disabled children. It is a fund- raising program ‘so suc- ‘cessful in Ontario that it expanded into other pro- vinces. '. -The B.C. Snowmobile Federation and member clubs took up the _ challenge in 1978. Work-- ing in conjunction with - the B.C. Lions Society, they held B.C.’s first Snowarama. Snowarama events held in participating provinces have raised millions of dollars to aid programs and research to serve the physically disabled children in all .com- munities. The combined efforts of the Snowmobile. Associations, the Lions - Society, non-member riders and the support of Terrace to kick off 60th Diamond Jubilee Year TERRACE — On Thurs- day, Jan, 22, 1987, the City of Terrace will be recognizing the athletic achievements of Paul Clark. Municipal represen- tatives will be bestowing the Freedom of the City to _ Vesta Douglas, receiving the letters patent from the Ministry of Municipal Af- fairs, declaring Terrace a City, and ___ kicking- off the 60th Diamond Jubilee Year by way of a giant birthday cake do- nated by the Skeena Mall Merchants’ Association. These festivities will in- clude entertainment by some of Terrace’s local talent, and Ginny Lowrie will have information on the events planned. The program scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 22, 1987 (commencing at 7:30 p.m.) in the Skeena Mall (outside the Sight & Sound Store location), will be worth joining in on. ‘ * * Framing Tips A picture frame should be compatible with the style and ‘ proportion of the art work. The one-day event takes place in January, February or March, -depending on weather and scheduling in each com- munity. Prior to the event, the participants gather pledges based on the number of kilometers that will be completed. They then set out to complete as much as possible of the 100 kilometer trail ride on a snowmobile; this is not a race, but just snowmo- bilers out for a ride to benefit the disabled. The only competition here is to see who collects the most pledged funds. Jan. 25, 1987, will mark the tenth anniversary of Snowarama in British Col- umbia. The Skeena Valley Snowmobile Association, — a member of the B.C. Snowmobile Federation, have elected to hold a Snowarama Day in the Terrace area. To coincide with the anniversary date, Jan. 25, 1987, has been chosen as the tentative date for the event. Anyone who would like to participate in this event is welcome to come out.
