Smoke smells Hydro wires down & burning Tree fell on house Tank cars leaking (CPR) 51 Inhalator calls 47 Patients transported 425 Firemen attended 448 Man hours 5 Firemen off sick - total 23 days Volunteers paged 4 times Total damages - $25,150. Five house fires: $3500 damage to a bedroom started by children playing with matches, $500 to an entrance of a home when an open flame ignited a macrame hanging, $1000 to a rug, clothing and other objects possibly started by a faulty electric cord, $20,000 danages to home when the owners left on vacation and left a pot on the stove and $150 to bedroom when a child started a fire on a bed. Little or no damage to 6 car fires. Washed down an area in the CPR yards caused from three tank cars of Petrol Napth (cleaning fluid) flash point of 65° ¢ leaking due to expansion from change of temperature. Inhalators 51 - 31 home emergencies consisting of strokes, heart attacks, form of flu, asthmatic attack, seizures, domestic fights and falls causing injuries. Attended 7 motor vehicle accidents, one industrial accident, 5 fights causing injuries, one school sports accident, 1 person collapsed in a store, 1 person found on the sidewalk and 4 overdoses. The Port Coquitlam Firemen's Empty Stocking Fund supplied gifts for approximately 300 needy children this year besides helping out with some food hampers the day before Christmas to families who had been missed. I put out an appeal to the Citizens of Port Coquitlam to support our needs. We are very happy to announce and would like to thank the wonderful people wite donated to our cause, that donations of $2,107.50 were received.
