That letters be sent to clubs and organizations in the City asking that they discuss the City's May Day celebrations at an early meeting and appoint a representative to attend a meeting to be held at the City Hall in the near future to consider the future of May Day and appoint a May Day Committee and elect a chairman. Carried. Alderman Traboulay voted against the resolution. Before passage of the resolution a discussion ensued and Alderman Ranger advised he felt the people present at the meeting of October 12th, 1977 were not prepared to set up a Committee. Alderman Ranger advised new signs have been put up along Hyde Creek and along Cedar Ditch advising people not to interfere with salmon and also explaining the salmon's life cycle. Aldermen Keryluk, Laking and Mabbett advised they will be seeking re-election in the coming election. Alderman Mabbett asked the City Administrator the explain what had been done with regards to the damage claims from people involved on Fooley Avenue when the water main broke and the City Administrator advised he had been in touch with the people and they would be getting back to him with the necessary information. Alderman Traboulay expressed concern about the northbound traffic situation on Shaughnessy Street (formerly Chester Street) as when someone stops to turn right at Centennial Pool, traffic backs up behind and Alderman Mabbett advised Council the Public Works Committee will be looking into this situation at the meeting Thursday morning, October 20th, 1977. Mayor Campbell advised he had pamphlets from the School Board on School Trustee elections, assistance guides if anyone is interested they can obtain them from the School Board.
