The City Clerk then inquired whether the Council wished to advertise the proposed land sale in local newspapers as well as the required posting thereof on the City Hall notice board, and the following motion was proposed with respect thereto: Moved by Alderman Keryluk: Seconded by Alderman Laking: That the advertising in local newspapers of the proposed sale of City-owned property on Chester Street and a 10! strip of Perth Street not be required. Carried. Alderman Ranger voted against the resolution. Prior to passage of the foregoing resolution, Alderman Ranger stated his view that if alternate bids are to be accepted for the property it should be more widely advertised; however, Alderman Keryluk pointed out that this particular piece of City~owned land cannet be assembled economically by anyone else and that the sensible -hing to do is incorporate it with the adjacent land owned by the developer. The Committee, in its report, advised that the proposed development is to consolidate the properties and to re-subdivide it into 11 lots of varying sizes, some of which are below the By-law requirement of 5,400 square feet. It was noted that the property involves the same City- owned land approved for sale earlier this evening subject to consolidation with the developer's property.
