C, Dear Sirs: In request to my proposal for an increase in tariff rates in the City of Port Coquitlam, I would like to submit the following factors in order to justify my case. I feel that in order to carry on in an effective and efficient manner and supply the service to the conmunity that is required, it is imperative that an immediate increase in rates be approved. The last increase in rates was in the spring of 1972 and since that time the following has taken place: (1) Gasoline - prices have increased from 16.94 to 6h.9¢ per gallon ~ an increase of approx. 30%. Insurance ~ Rates have increased approximately $200.00 per licensed vehicle. Workmens Compensation - formerly was .07% and is now 13. Unemployment Insurance ~ The employers part of paying the cost of insurance is now 1.1%. Pensions - The employers have been subjected to an increase in the paying of a pension plan. Maintenance & Products - The cost of labour and maintenance has increased approximately 25%. The cost of supplying tires, batteries, etc. has risen accordingly. Cost of Living - The cost of living index has in- creased over 10%. Wages - The company has been subjected to paying higher wages in order to keep the taxis within the company operational. Yours very truly, WsexaLk Ya bonm Howard Gordon, Bel-Air Taxi Ltd.
