Municipal Council,
The Corporation of the City of Port Coquitlam.

Your Worship and Aldermen:

The Council of the City of Nanaimo is requesting the
Provincial Government to submit an offer for the purchase of the
"S§.S. Beaver" for which bids are now being invited by Crown Assets
Disposal Corporation.

We feel that the preservation of the replica of the
Beaver is of prime historical significance comparable to Barkerville
and Fort Langley.

It is the Council's suggestion that this historic
vessel be purchased by the Province for display as a tourist
attraction and also that it would be made available for display
at any coastal community at the time of the communities' annual
celebrations.

I€ you concur with this suggestion it is requested
that you forward a letter of endorsement te The Honourable W.K.
Kiernan, Minister of Recreation and Conservation.

As the closing date for receipt of bids is July 25th
it would be necessary that the Minister receive any endorsements
as soon as possible.
