Cal girls take Zones CALEDONIA GIRLS soc- cer scored big at the Zone Championships in Smithers the weekend of May 10 and 11. The girls returned home Zone Champions, a first for Caledonia. The wins were especially sweet against Kitimat, a team that hadn't lost in two years. Friday night the team pulled off a decisive victory against Charles Hayes of Prince Rupert, Saturday saw the girls face Kitimat’s un- defeated Mount Elizabeth team, After giving up an early goal, the girls rallied, com- ing back to win 2-1, As if to prove their first win over Kitimat wasn’t just a stroke of luck, the team went on to beat thent again, this time with a shutout. Cal blasted two into the Mount Elizabeth net, and played tight defencively, holding back the usually potent Kitimat offence for a 2-0 win, The team is now off to the Provincial Championships in Kamloops and coach Blaine Kluss is confident the team will do well. “We hope te finish at least in the tap 50%, but anything better would be great,” says Kluss. “‘This is a great team. They really play with a lot of emotion.” The Provincials finish up May 29. 9095, Box 22, IMPROVING Terrace, B.G, Major Credit Cards YOUR Accepted opps V8G 4h2 —— year | AGAINST ~—- Marjorie Park Your donation is " AND STROKE. :| CANADA'S -, | 638-1167 fax deductible j., . .
