84 - The Terrace Standard, Wednesday, March 13, 1996 More to life than the beef By LT. CINDY HAMELIN The Salvation Army WHERE’S THE BEEF? Pve just spent half an hour preparing so now (’'m awake cnough to carry out my motherly duties. My face is clean, iny hair is combed, the coffee is on and Spud, our family pet, has had his carly walk. The next phase begins with the oldest child who is next in line to use the facilities. Following in right on time with our schedule, We have everything under control until her Dad sees an opportunity, The bathroom is temporarily emply as Niki has forgotten something in her room, Oh no, The two collide as they. both decide they both have total right to enter and use the premises. Of course the bigger more aggressive wins andthe other leaves the arena of competition. Shortly afterwards my husband resumes his morning rituals that need to be done each morning. , Two down. We are now in the final stretch with only the final hurdle in our sight. Sonny boy says ‘‘Please, just five more minutes’’ or the familiar words of, ‘‘Whal Lime is it? Do I have time for a shower?’’ Slow paced, easy going, down right comatose is our son who can’t move before eight on a week day. However you should see the weekends, Let’s just say that’s another Story. , With a rush of madness our day begins and sometimes it never seems to end, I began ta wonder how Jesus’ days would begin. Was there solitude and prayer, or was there the busyness or hurricdness that [ {vel most momings, just as many of you are expericucing with your families, Jolin Chapter Six speaks of the crowd realizing Jesus is no longer with them, He had left their presence during the night and as morning draws light they realize he is gone. They frantically search the area, until as last Jesus is a View Point found. The question they ask Jesus was that of, ‘Rabbi when did you get here?”? Jesus is aware of the molives behind the question — that sceing is believing. But they had their minds, hearls, and eyes closed, For they had enjoyed the food and the fellow- ship of the crowd (feeding of the 5000), Their eyes had not only beheld a miracle, their hands look and their mouths ate and still they were unaware of the force behind the miracle. ---Theit-own thirst for the most necessary; Ihe daily bread, scems to have taken their priority. They know where they can get food and have an abundance and tliey didnot have to sirive for it. Or did they. Was this so? . Jesus is aware of the aceds of the peaple not just short term as Where will the next meal come from. Bul rather the long term.. Jesus states in John 6:27, ‘Do not work for food that spoils, but for the food that endures to cternal life which the Son of Man will give you.” : In our daily commitment ‘are we asking the same ques- lions as the crowd? Where is the beef? Are we watching for the miraculous signs when we have already experi- enced the presence of Jesus, , Jesus answered, ‘It is wrillen; Maa shall not live by bread alone, but on every word that comes from the Word of God,”’ Matthew 4:4, The views expressed in this article are those of the writer, Legion officers installed By PETER CROMPTON Branch 13 OUR INSTALLATION of officers dinner and dance Feb, 24 went off well. Please Jet us know your preference in writing — carpet for the old building or for the new building.
