Terry Grimm and Don Clifford drew assists un the play. Duug Johnson scored a power play goal al 15:27 of the periad, giving the G&A squad a $1 lead going into the final frame. The third period was a wild and wooly affair, with each team counting four goals. Just 49 seconds into the final frame, Brian Ballintine scored his second gual of the game, increasing Gurdon & Anderson's margin to three goals. Rick Smuley got that one back fur the Juveniles at the 2:30 mark, making the seore 5-2. Brian Ballintine scored a puwer play goal at ihe 4 minute mark, in- creasing Gordon & An- derson's margin to 6-2. Kevin Taylor of the Juveniles was serving a SECOND: STRAIGHT LOSS (ripping penalty at the time. Gordon & Anderson opened up a five goal lead at 7:12 when Doug Johnson scored his secund gual of the game. The Juveniles weren't finished yet, however, as they cuunted three quick guals in just over lwo minutes 10 narrow the marginty 75. Myron Cruwn started the resurgence when he scored ai (he 12:48 mark. Doug Middleton added another at 14:02, and Rick Smoley scoured at 14:51, his second gual of the contest. Rae Rewe got one back for Gordon & Anderson al 15:20, making the score 8-5. The Juveniles' last gasp came al 16:49 of the periud when Doug Juhnson scured on a eluse in play. The game featured 66 minutes in penalties, 44 of these guing to the Gurdon & Anderson team. Since Gurdon & Andersen only had nine players altogether, at times they had more men in ihe penalty bux than they had on their bench. There were Limes during lhe game when the teams were playing just four men aside. It was a fairly physical cuntest, though, and entertaining to watch, Allin all, if this game is any indication, it looks as though the Commercial Huekey League should produce sume exciting huckey this coming seasun. The next Cummercial League game will be tonight al $:30 P.M. between McEwan G.M. and the Skeena hotel. The league this seasun will be playing two games Monday nights, at 8:45 and 10:45, one game Tuesdays at 7:30 P.M., and one game Thursday nights al 6:30 P.M. Winterhawks axe Timbermen The Terrace Timbermen were defeated 6-2 by (he Kitimat Winlerbawks in Kitimat Wednesday aight, for their second regular season loss in as many games. Kitimal got the only goal of the opening period, as Magiel Fournier secured at the 12:25 mark, with Lee Marleau and Stacy Smeader assist ing. Vancouver Cariadi The teams came out fast in the second period, as the Timbermen tied the game just one minute and 40 seconds into the middle frame when Lance Legouffe seored from Gourd Cochrane and playing coach Dale Kushner. The Winlerhawks gol that one back just 12 seconds later, huwever, when Derek Degueut's shot found the target, Chris Godfrey and Dan Fournier assisting. Kitimat scured another at 3:07, this time John Mazune getting (he goal frum Mike Delisser and Ron Egan. The Win- lerhawks increased their margin to 4-1 just over a minute laler when Magiel Fournier scored his second gual uf the game al the 4:29 mark, Ron Manaker and Brian Walt assisting, The Timbermen found (hem- selves behind 5-1 when Mike Delisser scured at 6:22, assists coming from John Mazune and Steve Kerbrat. This ended the scuring in the secund period. The teams played scureless huckey from then until the 9:29 mark of the third period, when the Winterhawks siruck again, , this time Chris Godfrey getting the goal, with Stacy Smeader and Magiel Fournier assisting. Terrace’s Houston Hill scured from Doug Matheson at 14;02, but it was a case of tov litle too late, as the Winterhawks already had an insurmuuntable margin. This rounded out the scoring fur the contest, the game ending al 6-2 for the Win- terhawks. This leaves the Terrace Timbermen winless in two regular scusun starts, after having lost 13-3 in Prince Rupert Sunday. According to coach Dale Kushner, the Timbermen are currently trying to acquire four players from down south, hopefully to holster the squad in time fur their next game scheduled for October 22, when they will take on the Houston Luckies at the Terrace Arena. Although they've lovked less than impressive in their two uulings to date, it's still far igo early in the season to give upun them, Cuach Dale Kushner and General Manager Tim MacLean are cunstantly endeavoring to upgrade the qualily of the team in an effurt to give Terrace huckey fans a solid PNWHL contender. Hopefully they will show evidence of this im- provement in their next pame.
