THE WESTERN CANADIAN LUMBER WORKER JULY-AUGUST, 1972 WAGES A general wage increase of 73 cents per hour be paid over the term of the agreement as follows: 36% cents effective July 1, 1972 36% cents effective July 1, 1973 SPECIAL WAGE ADJUSTMENT A general special wage increase of fourteen cents (14¢c) per hour be paid over the term of the agreement as follows: : 3% cents effective July 1, 1972 3% cents effective July 1, 1973 7 cents effective June 1, 1974 SHIFT DIFFERENTIAL Amend Article V, Section 5 by increasing the shift differential from ten cents (10c), per hour to fifteen cents (15¢) per hour effective July 1, 1972. GRADING TICKETS (a) Certified Planer Graders working as such to receive a standardized bonus effective July 1, 1972 over and above the evaluated Grader rate as follows: ““A’’ Ticket — 20 cents per hour “B”’ Ticket — 15 cents per hour : (b) Employees not being Planer Graders who hold valid grading tickets shall receive a premium of five cents (5c) per hour over and above their job rate.. There shall be no stacking or pyramiding of premiums. (c) Individual companies paying a bonus or premium greater than set out in (a) or (b) above will keep such policies in effect. FIRST AID TICKETS Employees holding valid First Aid Tickets shall receive a premium of five cents (5c) per hour over and Southern above their job rate. There shall be no stacking or pyramiding of premiums. LOGGING RATES Logging rates in the categories outlined below to be revised_effective July 1, 1972 as follows: Increase per hour before general wageincrease ~- Fallers (falling and bucking) 75 cents All other logging and woods division and logging road building and construction categories, including Pole Truck Drivers 3 % of June 30, 1972 category rate. The said 3% shall not apply to the Premium of 21 cents per hour paid to certified tradesmen. Power Saw Rental Increase to $7.00/ day TRADESMEN (a) Grinderman The category of Grinderman be included in Section 9, Supplement No. 6. Grinderman shall be slotted into three (3) rates of a minimum rate of $3.84 per hour, a rate of $3.94 per hour and a maximum rate of $4.04 per hour before application of the general wage increase. The rates shall be effective July 1, 1972 and the eps completed by September 15, 1972. (b) Add new section providing that employees with twenty-five (25) or more years service shall receive five (5) weeks vacation with pay at the rate of ten and one-half (10% us per centum of their earnings instead of the four (4%) per centum provided by the said act (c) Amend Section 7 to read as follows: Section 7: Leave of Absence The following shall be considered as days actually worked for determining vacations with pay for an employee after one @) continuous year of employ- ment: (a) Absence on Workment s Compensation up to a period of one (1) year, provided the employee returns to his employment. (b) Absence due to illness up to a period of one (1) © year, provided that the employee returns to his em- ployment. The employer shall have the right to require a certificate from a qualified medical practitioner. (c) Absence due to bereavement leave in accord- ance with the term and conditions of the agreement. (d) Absence due to time served on jury duty in ac- cordance with the term and conditions of the agreement. (e) Any other absence duly approved by the em- ployer in writing shall be credited towards entitlement for annual vacation, but time spent on such leave of absence shall not_be counted in computing vacation pay. PLYWOOD EVALUATION (a) Delete (b) of Section 10 of Supplement No. 7. (b) Review of all grading rules and agreed upon results to be implemented effective January 1, 1973. SAWMILL EVALUATION (a) Delete (d) of Section 12 of Supplement No. 6. (b) Review of all gradings after completion of present reevaluation and agreed upon results to be implemented effective January 1, 1973. (c) Incumbents of interim rates set up to and includ- ing June 30, 1972 will have red circle protection.
