V3C 2A8 Mayor and Council Members: Re: B.C. Hydro/Powerex - Export Permits I attach a copy of two letters recently sent to the National Energy Board and the Minister of Energy, Mines and Petroleum Resources, in connection with the renewal of export permits and energy removal certificates expiring this coming September, Of particular concern to the City of Port Moody is the potential of increased use of Burrard Thermal Generating Plant to produce electricity for export. This City does nat consider that adequate information is available, regarding the effect on the environment, the heaith of citizens, or agriculture, for there to be a proper and informed decision by either regulatory agency as to whether Burrard Thermal's use should be permitted to increase, as is currently being proposed by B.C, Hydro/Powerex, On the surface, the Powerex proposal is certainly contrary to the Federal green plan for the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, | PAGE oI (604) 936-9830
