V3C 2A8 Dear Mayor Traboulay: Thies Letter is to request.your support for the preservation of a heritage site of great significance to all British Columbians. The Bennett residence at 1979 Ethel Street in Kelowna was the home of Social Credit leaders, W.A.C. Bennett and hia son Bill Bennett who served as Premiers of British Columbia. The house was originally built in 1912 for former Mayor F. Dehart. W.A.C. and May Bennett bought she home in the early 1930's and the home was occupied by the Bennett family until September, 1989 when May Bennett died. The City of Kelowna has endorsed the efforts of the Cantral Okanagan Heritage Society to have the W.A.C. Bennett property retained aa a heritage site and has agreed in principle to participating by way of restoring and maintaining the gardens of the W.A.C. Bannett property. The purpose of thia letter is to request your support by writing a letter to the Minister of Municipal Affairs, Recreation & Culture asking that the Provinea acquire the property in order to preserve it as a provincial heritage site.
