NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT the District of Squamish
petition the Provincial and Federal Governments to enact legisiation which
wills

Establish a program which will compel developers when they demolish
medium and high density housing to replace an equal number of units for
rental to the poor and the elderly who are on fixed and low incomes.

Establish an Agency or Authority to review rents to ensure that rental
Increases are reasonable and just.

Establish a program of subsidized rents under a formula which considers
geographic area, household size and household Income thresholds.

Establish a loan deferral and mortgage guarantee and subsidization program
based on a formula which considers geographic area, household size ard
household incorne thresholds.

AND FURTHER THAT the resolution be forwarded to all appropriate
agencies and all municipalities in the Province of British Columbia for

support.
