Mr. Casson stated that if the people will co-operate in maintaining their own areas, the Savings will be reflected in lower rentals, and commented that if the people understand they are going to have security of tenure, they will then appreciate the development for what it is. UNFINISHED BUSINESS: otice of Motion~ From the City Clerk, April 9th, 1975, advising of a Notice of 1d.Traboulay-re public partic- Motion proposed by Alderman Traboulay at last week's Council meeting to the effect that public participation be permitted in Budget meetings meetings after the preliminary work has been completed. Alderman Traboulay referred to the fact that a few years ago, on Mayor Campbell's initiative, representatives of ratepayers groups were permitted to participate in budget meetings and stated he believed in having well~informed citizens. Moved by Alderman Traboulay: Seconded by Alderman Laking: That representatives of active ratepayer groups in the City as well as other interested parties be invited to budget meetings of Council Prior to final adoption of the 1975 City Budget for information and Participation. Carried. Aldermen Keryluk and Mabbett voted against the resolution. Prior to passage of tle foregoing resolution, a discussion ensued, and Alderman Ranger inquired what Alderman Traboulay could see happening if those that attended disagreed with the Council's views. Alderman Traboulay replied that he is looking for input to help the Council make decisions. Alderman Mabbett stated he has no strong objections to public participation, but pointed out that it is getting pretty late to Start this year. Mayor Campbell stated he was not opposed to the suggestion Proposed by Alderman Traboulay; however, Alderman Keryluk stated he would question very strongly that there would be any major changes in the budget with any kind of particpation, and advised he agreed with the comments made by Alderman Mabbett with respect to lateness of time, CORKESPONDENCE & REPORTS FOR INFORMATION: Mar./75 report- From the Fire Chief, being the March, 1975 report of ‘the Fire Fire Dept.
