Al10 Terrace Review — Wednesday, September 5, 1990 maps out fall action The Northwest Community Col- lege Students’ Association is busy gearing up for the fall semester with tons of activities. "Get in on the action!" is the theme for 1990. To kick it off, on Sept. 14 at the Elk’s Hall they’re hosting a bar- becue, beer garden, band dance, mixer for students and community residents to get to know each other and "break the ice". Long-time Terrace resident and enthusiastic planner Coleen Kennedy is stepping into .Kim Sauinier’s shoes as Student Activities Coordinator while Kim is away in Ecuador for six months ~ with Canadian Crossroads Interna- tional. Coleen has worked her way up from her initial job as cashier- clerk in the Fitness Centre. Last year, she planned numerous stu- dent activities and fun times with Kim. This year, Coleen is looking at a more streamlined, but more fun-filled program, with activities 9 including pub nights, band dances, § hiking and camping trips, and ski trips to both Shames and Hudson Bay Mountains. When Coleen isn’t busy with student activities, she enjoys the role of wife and mother, J with 14 year-old daughter, Court- ney. The Student Body Racquet & fem Fitness Centre opened yesterday, & Sept. 4, with new hours and new & fall programs, including a first-ever jj junior squash league. Campaigns, § students council, pub nights, band § dances, ski trips and tours ate all § in the making. The NWCC Students’ Associ- § ation is looking forward to a fan- § " fastic year, Kennedy says, adding, | "Join in and get in on the action!" | Regional district backs 18-holer Both Terrace city council and the Regional District of & Kitimat-Stikine have offered sup- port for a proposed expansion 8 project at the Skeena Valley Golf and Country Club. In support of the project, acting mayor Bob Cooper said Monday night, "This is a very important aspect of rec- reation in our. area." The next slep for the golf club is to seek support from: the regional district to have the land removed: from the Agri- . aan cultural Land Reserve. 635-6375 ip NORTHERN (MOTOR =jNN= RESTAURANT - LOUNGE PUB- coLDB BEER STORE Fine Dinin on in quiet eurreund.cas! 5 p.m. — 10 p.m. Wie 4620 Lakelse Avenue ST 638-8141 & Polly’s Cafe Bi. chines & Western Cuisine Mon.—Thurs. 10:30 a.m. — midalght Frl. & Sal. 10:30 a.m. — 1 a.m. _ Sunday 12:00 a.m. — 10 p.m. 4913 Keith Avenue, 638-1848 o 638-8034 GIWS 4g ap RESTAURANT @& Chinese & Canadian Food “A OPEN 7 DAYS A WEEK in Mon - Wed 1:30 am. — 10:00 p.m, WAY Thursday 11:30 aan, — 16:00 pra, tp SSD Fri - Sat 11:30 a.m. — 1:00 aan.
