Tree planters to By ERIC HARKONEN : ARMED WITH shovels, bags and buckets the Ter- ‘race District Scout council held its annual Scout tree -plant on May 4, - Twenty eight youths participated at the event which “was held at the Red Sands Lake demonstration forest. : The scouts visited many Terrace homes with their :pledge envelopes collecting money for each tree -planted., - The scouts received personal certificates for their efforts from forests ministry. Each child also received a Scouts Trees crest for their campfire blankets. The First Terrace Ventures were on hand to serve ithe hungry planters with hot dogs, donuts, juice and ‘Pop. : The gratitude of the Terrace District Scout council : “goes out to the forests ministry for its continued sup- ‘port and also to those businesses who donated goods ‘toward this event. . The local Scouting movement has been busy lately. :The Cubs district held its Kub Kar rally April 5 and ‘the Regional Kub Kar rally on April 26. Cubs from all over the northern region competed. : The winner of this race was Ben Haig of the Sixth “Terrace Cubs, His car had the honor of also being the ,overall winner at the Terrace District event. : Scouting also took part in the annual Terrace Gar- ‘bathon held on April 20. Scouts picked up trash by ‘the overpass. Once again our thanks to those in the ‘community that supported all these events. * Future events will see a District Beaveree, the Cubs traveling to Kispiox for camp Kikatee and Scouts ‘traveling to Hazelton to attend the Totem Trails ‘Scout camporee. : We will also have some Scouts and Ventures at- ‘tending the Canadian Scout Jamboree this summer in ‘Ontario.
