There will be hats, _ Seniors bring back Games ~ medal haul _. TERRACE — Seniors from the - horthwest zone brought back a total of 18 medals from the ‘Seniors. Games held earlier this month in Courtenay. “We had a preat time — the hospitality was great and the weather was just beautiful,” - said: Betty Nordstrom, one of the local seniors at the Games. ~A-total of 66 seniors com- -peted from this zone, bringing back a gold, six silver, and 11 bronze medals. ‘Kitimat’s Dorothy Cheyne won the zone’s sole gold medal, ° by winning her division of -women’s singles badminton, "and Inge Schumacher took the silver inzthat event, Kitimat’s © ‘Erland’ Sander claimed. the .-men’s singles bronze, and Sander and Cheyne combined .to take the. mixed doubles . bronze, _. The money collected will be donated to the telethon, with a challenge to other local businesses to equal or better it. The Figure Skating Club has a $500 dona- tion ready to. be made, and the Terrace Curling Club has a broom raffle in progress, with proceeds ear-marked for the telethon. Letters have been sent to the schools encouraging our younger folks to come up with individual challenges and we telethon arrives | know we can count on them, I have given much consideration to my personal challenge, and find that I can spare a twenty- dollar bill (there goes a much- needed hair-do) and challerige everyone who loves Terrace to equal or better it, OF course none of us will have any trouble remembering our “Evening with Laurie Thain" at the Terrace Inn ‘on Sept. 29th.
