Tonee Sabine has ap- plied for permission for the club to run the drama summer school for children for the tenth consecutive summer. There would probably be two three-week sessions, employing three or four students experienced in drama. This season, readings were held for four dif- ferent plays before Christmas, but various obstacles and mishaps prevented any produc- tions until the recent ‘Sneak Preview of Festival Plays’’. The club will hope to get the 1986-1987 season off toa good start with a fall production. People with titles to suggest for preview will mention them on May 5. Following the regular business meeting on May 5, the Annual General Kaldor draws people in like a warm fire on a cold night From the moment she walked on the stage there was a feeling that an in- visible net had been thrown over the au- dience, drawing them closer. She turned the REM Lee into her living room and concert-goers into friends and guests. Connie Kaldor’s two- hour show left everyone wanting more and wondering how soon she’s coming back. by Michael Kelly Staff Reporter After an introductory set featuring some fine instrumental work by Terrace Coffee House musicians Wayne Sheri- dan and Kenny Downs, she came out and im- mediately lit up the stage and the collective spirit of the theatre. Her one- woman show consisted of both old and new original songs in ar- rangement for piano, guitar and synthesizer, all of which were merely backdrops for that pro- foundly versatile and stunning voice. _ Kaldor seems to be able to do anything she wants with her voice, a gift that she has trained to range through vocal expression like a hunting hawk. She is able to create with equal ease the high rippling clarity of a mountain brook or the troubled portentiousness of breakers rolling in at sunset. Her songs, inter- spersed with high- humored monologue, are striking and direct in a way that reforms memory and perception into something fresh and immediate. The songs are a perfectly tailored fit to the way she seems, Remember Paragon Insurance Fae All Classes of Insurance @ HOME-OWNERS’ POLICIES @ LOGGING EQUIPMENT @ MOBILE HOMES @ COMMERCIAL Paragon Insurance Skeena Ma! ®@ TENANT ®@ BOAT @ TRAVEL and perhaps that’s the core of Connie Kaldor’s appeal. In spite of the fact that she’s moving so fast artistically that her own fans can barely keep up with her, she presents a totality that is all of one piece, something that draws people like a warm fire on a cold night, The Terrace Coffee House Society deserves thanks for arranging Kaldor’s appearance, but it will be difficult to forgive them if they don’t bring her back here soon. lf your licence 4, expires May 30 Full Autoplan service with qualified, friendly staff @ ACCIDENT & SICKNESS Including: Quiroplan Terrace Agencies Ltd. 635-637 1 Meeting will take place.
