THE CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF PORT COQUITLAM MEMORANDUM TO: J.E. Yip DATE: February 12, 1993 Deputy City Engineer FROM: Dave Kirk FILE: 301.1. SUBJECT: SUBDIVISION APPLICATION FEES The attached table sumtnarizes information recently obtained from several nearby cities and municipalities. Jim Hamilton’s previous work, based on his review of the current subdivision application process and estimations of time expended by staff, appears to suggest the following subdivision application fees: 1) Two to four lot subdivision (generally not requiring works and services) $740 2) Subdivision for more than four lots. Initial Fee $740 Plus per additional lot $80 Current fees are $25 for the initial application plus $10 for each additional lot created. The suggested fees are generally in line with Coquitlam’s recently revised fees and Surrey’s proposed fees. Some of the municipalities indicated that while their current fees do not reflect their actual costs, Councils appear to be reluctant to set fees at an appropriate higher ammount. I suggest that you attempt to track the time actually spent by staff so that you are in a better position to increase fees at a future date, if required, to reflect the actual costs incurred.
