$4,000,000,000. . me

And just what is this four bil-
lion dollars? That’s the amount
the government. is going to
spend on 50 military belicop-
ters. Let’s see four. billion
divided by 50 is...580,000,000
per helicopter (or expressed in
a different manner, 6,666
families’ income tax).

This from a government who
cut transfer payments to pro-
vinces that as a direct result is

threatening our health care and
educational systems.

This from a government who
gave us the GST as a means of
reducing our deficit (not one
cent of the GST has been used

to reduce the deficit as of yl).

1 could go on and-on but

that’s not the point, the point is.

yes, we may want. helicopters,
we might even need them, but

that it is just wot worth mort-..

gaging ‘our. great greal grautl-
children’s future.

1 just wish the next’ time

I am writing this leltcr to let
the people know just what a
beautiful and. friendly place
Terrace is. I had never ‘been to
Terrace until [ bad the
privilege of working for the
Skeena Valley Triathlon on
July 12, 1992.

] spent five days enjoying the
peace and quict of such a
wonderful town. With people
like Dale and Nancy Green-
wood, Dennis, Kathy, Ray,
Steve plus the ‘numerous
volunteers that all came out
and gave a hand to make the
event such a. success, your
town should be proud to have
such people representing what
cily spirit should be, but
certainly is not everywhere.

My company, Race Head-
quarters, is employed at ap-
proximately 70 events a year

raced their best, whether it be

during the swim, bike, or run, »

had some. good’ competition
from Vancouver. with such
names as Frank Clarke, Kirsten
Duck, etc. I'am pleased to say
that everyone came. out win-
ners.

The spectators stayed until
the bitter end to cheer. an the
last athlete at about four-hours.

With all the hard work and
that, carried

cheese party on Saturday night,
the triathlon-on Swnday and the
awards banquet: afterward,
myself, Liz Graham of the
British Columbia Triathlon As-
sociation and Steve Kind were

honoured to be a part of such -

an unforgettable event.

I look forward to visiting

again!
