9pm ¢ Stefie Shock “Le décor” He’s a modern dandy who doesn’t lose his cool. He is often compared to big stars like Gainsbourg and Manu Chao. They call him the . new Jean Leloup. But above all, he is himself, Stefie Shock, and his music is the sum total of many different influences. He started making music very early on, with a passion for percussion at the age of four! At 13, he was the drummer in his school’s Big Band, and went on to join a series of rock bands. In 1989 he decided to start writing, composing and singing solo, a brilliant idea judging by his success, which is in proportion to his talent. In 2000 he released his first album “Presque rien”, which was very well received by the critics, and everything followed on from that. He carried off the Prix Québec— Wallonie/Bruxelles in 2001 and the Prix Félix Leclerc in 2002. His second opus is a catchy and sexy album that presents Stefie as a mature artist. This album, entitled “Le décor”, won the Félix prize for the best pop-rock album of the year at the 2004 ADISQ (Québec Music Awards), where Stefie received six other nominations, in addition to winning his second Félix. Now his name is on everybody’s lips and his duo performance with host Guy A. Lepage on the show “Tout le monde en parle” created such a furor that Stefie Shock was asked to arrange the theme music for the programme. Stefie Shock will stop in Vancouver before going on to Europe in the summer of 2005, where he has just signed a big contract with Warner/France. On stage, he is an extrovert with explosive energy, and his music is spontaneous and intense, with strong lyrics and a colourful, imaginative beat that is heightened with Latin ae African rhythms. He himself calls his rock style “suant”, ich translates something like “go for burn”. The challenge for Stefie is to give you all he has got, in a show that is full of surprises and anything but boring. Get ready to rock!!!
