Freeman October 2ist City Clerk, City of Port Coquitlam Dr. Norman M. (Monty) Arnett joins Simon Fraser Health Unit as Director and Medical Health Officer on November ist 1988. Dr. Arnott leaves Central Kootenay Health Unit where he has been the Director/Medical Health Officer for the past four years. Prior to 1984 he was Director/M-H.O. of the West Kootenay Health Unit for four years. Dr. Arnott was born in Wales, and is an Accountancy graduate of Auckland University, New Zealand. He obtained his medical degree from Otago University in New Zealand. He graduated (M.Sc. Health Care and Epidemiology ) fron the University of B.C. (1982) and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada: Specialist in Community Medicine. Monty's professional experience includes family practice in Chatham, Ontario and Victoria, B.C. He has extensive service on Infection Control Committees of Regional District hospitals in the Kootenays. He Chaired the Scientific Sub Committee of the Communicable Disease Committee, Ministry of Health 1987/88. He was also a member of the B.C.M.A. Committee on Tobacco and Illness (1985-86). Special interests, within the field of community health include poison prevention, environmental lead, radon in the local environment, smoking and health; and computer applications.
