Continue with Current contractor but modify design for sheet Piling.
Since the current contractor is not capable of completing the
job in accordance with the original design it would be necessary
to modify the design and to Pay 4&4 premium to the contractor. He
has submitted a cost-plus bid which he estimates to amount to
$299,000 over the contract price but there would be no guaranty
as to the final cost.

Modify design to allow some movement in gravity main.
This would involve using a different type of pipe and joints
which would be less susceptable to dgint failure with soil
movement. Since the pipe is expected to move up and down as
much as 10 em it will collect sQlids in the low spots and will
be necessary for the City to clean the Pipe frequently.

; This would involve making a draw on the bonding company. It‘is
likely that this would involve litigation as the bonding company
would be expected to fight. The next lowest bidder has more
experience but could also have trouble completing if the
recommendations of the soil consultant does not work as
expected. ‘

Install nonconventional grinder pump system in industrial area with

City supplying and maintaining the Pumps, one for gach two

properties.
This is the same System used throughout the Mayfair industrial
area. The use of individual Pumps allows the sewer to be laid
shallow and saves the excessive costs of deen sewers.in this
soil. The individual PUMPS become a maintenance Problem for the

Same as D. but with each property being responsible for its Own

The cost of the Pump installed to each Property is about #4000
which is mot much more than a deep service connection would cost
