This means that no lemp sums of money will be passed over to either of these authorities to acquire Lands for ‘green-belt' areas. Instead, Nr. Williston pointed out, it would allow. the Provincial authoricfes to acquire land for this purpose with regard to overall provincial necd. . Nevertheless, he said, it was hoped that regional districts, municipal authorities, or interested groups or individuals would assist the Provincial Government by advising the Conaittee of their recommendations for land acqu{sition under the Act. . . : .. cee Foms will be available through his Comittee Headquarters at Victori2 for offers of land for purchase for the 'green-seit' project, Nre Williston said, and any subsequent purchase arzangenents will bz made on the dasis of fair market value for lands so offered. He noted that there was no expropriation authority ‘granted under the act and that any land purchases could only be completed with che agreenent of the present owners. . ‘ However, he added, any purchase of land under the Act did not necessarily rean tes total xerwval ftom use by the previous owner. For example, where the - land purchased was the site of a heme or farming facitities, arrangements ray be + nagotiated for leasing the land back to the owner for continued use under specified conditions but these negotiations and resulsant decisions would only be made on an . individual Lasis.
