Corbeuld, President, Coquitlam and District Hospital Society, Box 1083, COQUITLAM, B.C. Dear Mr. Corbould: The Greater Vancouver Regionel Hospital District Board, at its meeting on October 31st, 1973, considered the following resolution from the Advisory Committee: “Upon the recommendation of the Advisory Committee and in concurrence with the Minister's approval of September 27th, 1973, the Board approve the construction by the Coquitlar. and District Hospital Society of a 150-bed acute care unit without the provision of obstetrical facllities, and a 75-bed Extended Care Unit." Fnsuing discussion raised the question of provision for expansion, It was noted that the Minister's letter of September 27th, indicated that, "The hospital should be planned in such a way as to facilitate future expansion." On the other hand, at the heeting the Minister had with the Society and civic officials on August 24th, he had apparently suggested that 100 beds be in shell in the first stage of development. In view of this uncertainty, the Board moved to table the matter for one month pending clarification of the Minister's intent. This matter is now being followed up by the District with a view to resolution at the November Board meeting. Yours very truly, _ Norman K, Barth Assistant Director - Hospital Planning. NXB/np pe Kr.
