First Annual Spring Sale Boy was that a fun weckend! Everything went along so well and everybody helped so much its hard to comprehend. Thank you everyone for chipping in and doing so much to help make our first Made in Clay such a wonderful success, It's impossible to thank everyone individually though | would really like to be able to do so. I do want to sincerely thank the Subcommittee Chairs: Heather Cairns, Lynda Chelak, Patrick Taddy, Jan Kidnie, Anna Bjamason, Rosemary Amon and Maggi Kneer for their exceptional effort. In order for Made in Clay to happen these people contributed an incredible amount of time and energy in preparation for this sale. Without their dedication this sale couldn't have happened. In order to get a grasp on which advertising is most effective and start a mailing list, the idea of a Purchaser's Prize was conceived by Heather Cairns, Zelik Segal of Vancouver, who heard about Made in Clay on the radio, won the prize: a pit-fired piece made and donated by Lewis Krzyczkowski. It seems the most effective advertising was the huge banner that hung over the entrance to Granville Island. It seems to have brought in the most people. Did you catch Bob Kingsmill giving Mark Forsythe, from the Afternoon Show on CBC radio, a lesson on how to throw a pat? It was broadcast just an hour before our sale opened!! Bob was his wonderful self and we thank him for the support. The food the Lazy Bay Cafe provided was soooo good. It was a real treat to have them with us. In case you're curious, the top individual seller at our first sale was Judy Weeden. The top booth was Susan Clarke and lan Kennard. Congratulations! All the booths looked great, We had a professional look with a diverse variety of pieces made in clay available for sale The common bond we share working with clay was by far the most important part of this sale for me. We are a vibrant, supportive community that is very much alive, See you next year'! Cathi Jeffersan urnaby Arts Centre Takako SuzuUKI-: Surface Decoration rescheduled for July. Dates TBA.
