Over ornate with bright colours is very popular but stoneware and primitive wares are being produced also. A veritable profusion of work from the past and present in Mexico today. Thanks, Bob! TREASURER'S REPORT - Terry Ryals | Since the spring of 1987 when | became treasurer of the Potters Guild, I have been working to make the finances more understandable and meaningful to the members. To best accomplish this has been a three part program of restructuring of the accounting procedures and cate- fories, analysing of the resultant month to month data, and budgeting for the future. To date, the whole accounting system has been successfully restructured and I am presently into the second phase of analysing the results. As the financial statement shows, the Potters Guild is in a very healthy financial state of growth. This financial growth in the Guild has made the treasurer's job increasingly complicated, and in 1987 several independent accountants were employed to improve the accounting system. Presenth, Judi Hopkins is assisting the Gallery Manager and myself with monthly and year-end financial services. In 1988 we are changing to a computer accounting system which will give the Guild a better month-to-month financial picture to aid in future budgeting. The financial growth of the Potters Guild has changed dramatically since the Gallery of B.C. Ceramics opened on Granville Island in August of 1985, From 1961 to 1964 the Guild's total equity rose from only $3,553 to $5,162. Then with the help of the Gallery the total Guild and Gallery equity rose to $11,600 in 1985, $18,332 in 1986 and $23,940 by December 81, 1987. The Gallery of B.C. Ceramics is now the main Income producing program for the Guild, with the membership fees and the Robson Square sale second and third. The challenge for the new Board of Directors ts to continue to expand the activities of the Potters Guild and to use the present surplus wisely. POTTERS GUILD OF Bc.
